I have a brain!

It happened again. It hasn't happened for about 3 months. I had dinner with my friend Scot who I only see about once every 6 months or so. And we had...brace yourself...an intellectual conversation. And just like the last one a few months ago, I felt an instant change. Mostly extreme excitement at having my brain stimulated and challenged. I spend 8 hours a day doing brain numbing thoughtless work. Then I spend my evenings at club where I quiet my brain with music and alcohol. My brain is so unused that it actually hurts!

Yet there we were last night, discussing film adaptations of classics like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Then we discussed music, comparing styles and bands. And then moved on to discussing the similarities and differences between my spiritual practices and Paganism. My brain was so on fire and so happy I thought I would explode.

Sadly, conversation came to an end so we could do what I actually came over there to do. Which was watch the first two episodes of the HBO t.v. series "OZ" which he had rented on DVD.

God my brain misses being used. At a job. In a social situation. I miss it so badly. I have a brain. And granted it is hindered by a learning disability and attention deficit disorder. But it works on some levels. And it feels positively atrophied from lack of use.
