I will be spending May 22nd to June 2nd (two weeks) at a health and spiritual retreat in Hawaii. It is a "cleanse" with a restricted diet (and other treatments) that totally detoxes the body. Coupled with the spiritual aspects, it will be total rejuvenation of the body and soul. This was recommended to me by a relative that suffered for years from chronic fatigue syndrome. He's been treated by doctors, healers, dietitians and even a psychic and nothing worked permanently. But after completing the two week retreat he has been completely healed from and free from the chronic fatigue. And he goes on and on about how the spiritual part of the retreat has completely transformed him. I don't have chronic fatigue (like he did) but he has some hope that this might help treat my hypoglycemia. I'm not sure what to expect but I've never been to Hawaii before and I'm very nervous.
The other news is that I have scheduled lasik surgery for my eyes on May 6th. This is a huge deal because my prescription is so high (-11.5) that I can't even see people or objects without corrective lenses. I can make out large multi colored blurry shapes, but not faces, or bodies, or cars, or signs, or doors or anything that normally most folks with glasses can still make out when not wearing them. Because my prescription is much higher than normal, and the FDA has not yet approved the laser surgery for people with extra large pupils (which I have), there are potential complications. But I've been meaning to do this for almost a year and the trip to Hawaii is just what I needed to motivate me (who wants to be messing with contact lenses when you're swimming with dolphins?). I'm so excited about the idea of being able to see normally that I've decided to take the risk.
