Follow up to previous post - and seeking work out advice

New weight: 95.5 pounds. Granted this is with shoes and clothes on. So my actual weight is probably closer to just under 95. But the last time I was weighed at 94.5 was also with shoes and clothes. So that still means I gained a pound.

I recently assembled a portable stair master machine that one of my roommates has. It's tension adjustable so you can make it really easy to use or adjust it so that you really have to put some muscle into it. I can use this to try and put on some muscle (which weighs more than fat). However behind my building and down the street is a set of 40 or so cement stairs that go up a hill. I could use these instead but that require going both up and down repeatedly. Which would be better for building muscle, the real stairs or the stair master? Also when just starting out how many minutes per day should I do?
