D&D meme

izzbot marked the death of D&D architect Gary Gygax by asking people to post about their favorite role playing character. It's become quite the meme around LJ.

It's been so long since I played that I remember only once character, and I remember very little about her. Her name was Pris, and yes, she was named after the character in Blade Runner. She was a chaotic neutral elf and she had as much personality and initiative as an inexperienced and young girl (myself) could give her. Mostly she just followed the lead of the other characters and tried very hard not to get killed. The game itself went on every day at lunch, 5 days a week. And my very first ever romantic relationship developed with the game's DM.

The game sparked my imagination and soon I continued the character's exploits and developed her personality further through writing fiction. The DM joined me in writing the story and had a character romantically interested in my own but torn by loyalty as he was both at war with the elves and in love with one. Together we wrote quite an epic and long after the relationship and the game ended, my head never left the fantasy world it introduced me to. A few of my friends who have known me as far back as when I played, still refer to me by first ever nickname "elf."

What do I do with my nearly free airline tickets?

So remember that stand by airline ticket I have that I have to use by July 15th? I was going to use it to fly to Anchorage, but that was before I booked a cruise to Alaska. Not that the cruise will let me see Anchorage of course. But I'm less motivated to plan a trip to Anchorage now, especially considering how much time it will take to research activities, plan it, etc. I just don't have time to plan a trip to a place I know nothing about.

Question is, what do I do with that plane ticket? I can fly anywhere Alaska Airlines flies as long as they have open, unbooked seats (that means no trips to Hawaii). My inclination is to fly to LA again for some more pole instructor education and the shopping I just love. But that flight would have only cost about $300 if I paid for it. It seems like a waste of a free ticket (or nearly free, since I paid $100 in taxes to use the free ticket). It would be a better use to pick an expensive flight I don't have to pay for.

It can't be sold or transferred. I'm at a loss. What do I do with this roundtrip ticket?
