To car or not to car

A little blog on Flex Car: http://www.livejournal.com/users/seametblog/198207.html

I have been soooo tempted recently to give up my truck. I absolutely adore my little truck. It's so rare (there are probably around 4 or 5 of them in Seattle) that it gets looks and stares whenever I take the top down. I even had one girl shout from the street how much she liked my car. It's all paid for, and it's so...well...me.

But it's up there in miles and I'd say if you average the cost of maintenance over the year (it's all maintenance, it never needs repairs) it comes out to about $100 per month. Gas probably averages $100 a month. Insurance is $100 a month. I love my freedom. Seriously, absolutely, like you wouldn't believe just love the freedom of jumping in and going wherever I want whenever I want. But $300 a month? I could probably pay half that in Flex Car and cabs if I let it go. So...so...tempting. Of course now I have my business as an excuse to hold on to it. I can't exactly cart around a 40 pound portable dancing pole kit on the bus now can I?
