Narnia

I was really moved by this image taken by words_spoken:

Narnia

It somehow manages to remind me of the some of the more innocent moments of my childhood and yet also makes me feel all romantic and gushy and happy inside. If I were going to send out X-mas cards this year, this is the image I would want on them.

My friends rock!

I had a great evening with my friend D tonight. We met up at El Fornio (sp?) for the free happy hour buffet. Then it was off to Star Bucks so we could relax on the comfy sofas and catch up. I love egg nog so I ordered the eggnog latte even though I don't drink coffee and have no idea what a latte even is. Bad idea. It didn't taste like eggnog with coffee. It just tasted kind of nasty and had a faint alcohol smell to it as if something in it was fermenting. Fortunately they were very nice about it when I asked to exchange it for something else and I enjoyed a chai instead. Afterward I checked out the new office she is practicing in (she is an acupuncturist and herbalist). Then we headed home to my place so I could show her all my Halloween photos.

D is just really great to talk to. I love my male friends like crazy. But sometimes an evening of girl talk can make all the difference in the world! I love the fact that she can listen to me and I can listen to her and there is a comfortable flow to it. And she told me something great tonight. She said you are not in integrity if everyone likes you. She said if everybody likes you then you're just not being real. Because if you're real, some one is always going to disagree with your or judge you. You'd have to be pretty fake and cater to a lot of people in order to have everyone like you.

She's one of the greatest friends that I have. Because she's known me for more than half the years I've been in Seattle and we've seen each other through all kinds of changes and advances in our lives. And even if we fall out of touch for a bit we just pick right back up where we left off. And every once in a while she just drops these fantastic jewels of wisdom in my lap.
