Acting & Songs

Is it my imagination or is my journal just WAY dull since I've stopped writing about all the men that are rattling around in my head and/or life?

Acting class update. I've been cast in several scenes as several different characters. Some of them are downright stodgy and a waste of my time. One is challenging, and I know I got it because I did such a good cold read for it. It revolves around Peggy and the birthday party she is throwing for her little son. A father of one of the children attending shows up and it becomes clear she is having an affair with him. They are having a dialog with all these screaming children around them and the sexual tension is thick because they can't really touch each other or do anything suspicious around the children. But they're dying to!

As I read this out loud (for the teacher) the first time, I was drawing on some real emotions related to being kept apart and sexual tension. So I suspect my reading was pretty much on fire. Trouble is, I'm moving on from those feelings/emotions and letting them go thread by thread. Only now I have to draw on these emotions every week in rehearsal...over and over...again and again, in order to give a convincing performance. I have to feel those emotions every time I say those lines. This is how acting works. At least good acting. Ugh!
