"To be totally honest, what you do has changed my life in many ways. I have never felt so confident and happy with my physical abilities. And the fact that I can be a dancer now and perform and teach it to others is exhilarating. So thank you for that!"
She also made me realize something really important today. I have been saying how lucky I am to have a stable and profitable business in this economy. But the truth is, it had very little to do with luck. I sacrificed most of my life for the last 2 years to make this happen. And now I'm reaping the reward of that sacrifice.
For more than 2 years, I have seen little of my friends. I have had very little social life. I just work all the time to make this business survive and thrive. Teaching every evening...working some aspect of the admin every weekend...even teaching parties a lot of weekend evenings. Well guess what. For the first class session ever I am finally getting what I worked so hard for these 3 years. I have time off. As you may have noticed, I've started taking weekend trips away. And this session I have both Wednesday AND Thursday night off! And Friday night too if there are no pole parties. I now have some freedom to be social, pursue hobbies, attend classes and workshop and just feel like a real human being again. This is because my 5 instructors, even though 4 of them only teach 1 class per week, are teaching the majority of Pole for the Soul's classes. Were it not for the private lessons I'm booking on Thursday mornings, Friday mornings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday afternoons...I would have even more time off! But one of my instructors is already willing to take on a weekly private lesson in addition to her once per week class.
Sadly though, there is a bit of stepping backward. One of my instructors is taking next session off to finish planning her wedding and get married and take her honeymoon. Another instructor, the one that teaches 2 to 4 classes per week, is taking a session and a half off to take a month long trip to Ireland. So it seems this Summer, I will lose some of that much deserved freedom I am now enjoying. But they still work for me and I still adore and appreciate them. So even if I have to pick up the slack a little and go back to teaching every night for a month or so while they are on vacation, it's worth it. I may have sacrificed years worth of fun and social time. But as a reward, I don't have to worry about losing a job or struggling in this economy. I have complete creative control of something I love. I choose who I work with. I make hundreds of women feel beautiful and empowered.
It's all worth it.
