Some of my students were telling me how much they liked my teaching style. A few of them even told me how funny I am. Considering all the comments, I'm starting to wonder if I was born to teach. Performance art is still my first love. But really, I think the best way to get people to learn things is to entertain them at the same time. So if you combine my love of performing and entertaining, with my severe learning disability, you get a teacher that enjoys entertaining the students while simultaneously breaking down lessons to a simple format that even a learning disabled person could follow (and therefore everyone can follow and understand).
It feels good to know this.
This was also my first time teaching a workshop with 4 poles. My last studio didn't work for workshops so I always rented my friend's studio for those, that had one pole. With my 4 poles it worked perfectly with 8 workshop students. Although when it was time to learn the spin, I broke it down to 3 at a time instead of 4. You really can't try and watch more than 3 girls spin at once. If any of them have any problems, you can't catch the symptoms of the problem and correct them (like if their arm is bent wrong or their leg is sliding too far in). With only 3 spinning, I was able to catch and correct all first timer type problems and they were all good to go and spinning! Everyone left happy.
