Math challenge

The internet gods have seen fit to bless me. I found a couple unsecured networks I can access from my office, which will do until the cable company comes out tomorrow to hook my own internet.

I need help with a math problem. The owner has estimated our new townhome to be about 1700 square feet. I need to to figure out what percentage my office and my private home studio takes up so I can write that percent of my home rent from my business checking account (the rest gets written from my personal account). So here's the math...

Approximate square footage of home: 1700 square feet
Office: 14 feet by 9 feet
Private Studio: 20 feet by 14 feet

What percentage of 1700 do my home office and home private studio take up?

I would appreciate any help I can get with this math problem since I can't write my rent checks until I figure it out. Thanks!

14 * 9 = 126 Square feet office.
20 * 14 = 280 Square feet studio.

Total of studio + office = 406 square feet.

406/1700 *100% = 23.88% (probably rounded to 24%) of your apartment is taken up by the combined studio and office space.

In case you need it, the office is approximately 7% and the studio is approximately 17%.

Hope that helps!
I think the limit the IRS allows is 25%. So that's perfect! Thank you.
Office: 14 * 9 = 126 square feet = 7,41 %

Private Studio: 20 * 14 = 280 square feet = 16,47 %
Thank you!
