anyone have experience shrinking acrylic?

I purchased this cardigan today but they only had it in a medium:

skulls

It's made of acrylic. To shrink it should I...

1. Wash it in hot water and then put it in the dryer?

or

2. Wash it in cold water but put it in the dryer?

or

3. Wash it in hot water but let it air dry?
