The style that everyone danced is what made this dance so amazing. Apparently this is the place you go to express yourself and work out your emotions. And people dance ANY way they want. Right away I noticed some one who looked like a spider moving across the floor on his belly. Most people dance standing, some danced kneeling, some were even writhing about on the floor. Most danced alone but would move into couple dancing with some one they may or may not know and then drifted about to dance alone and couple up again. They swirled, they tangoed, the pranced, they hopped, they spun, they crawled...everyone just did whatever they wanted. There was also random hugging, cuddling and gentle touching.
Honestly, if you walked into this dance and didn't know what was going on, you would swear they were all dancing while stoned and/or on acid. That's truly how it looked.
There was an altar there that I got to spend some time meditating at when I was tired from dancing. And since everyone is asked to bring a snack to share, it added up to one HUGE feast. There was an area on the floor with floor pillows that surrounded dozens of different foods from pie to hummus and bread, to sandwiches, to sweets, to chips, to fruit and cheese, etc. This truly is a place where people go to dance, to laugh, to cry, to pray, to meditate, to play music, to feast and to socialize. In other words; CageKitten heaven!!
