Girl who dances in a cage

I'm having a "wow, I was right" moment. When Paris Hilton got out of jail I was thinking that spending some time in jail would have really been good for her. Jail changes you, it changes you hard. In jail they make you feel worthless, they make you feel like nothing, they strip you of your humanity. If you spend enough time in jail, one of two things will happen. You're going to become a kinder, more compassionate and caring person as a result of knowing how it feels to be worthless...or you're going to be so angry at the experience that you'll end up a very bitter person with little regard for the lives of others. And Paris definitely struck me as the type would learn a lot of compassion as a result of being in jail. I know some one who spent a year in jail. He went in a rebellious youth who didn't think anything of threatening people or stealing stuff out of a car. After a year of humiliation and worthlessness, he came out an incredibly kind, thoughtful, caring person. Jail...can...change you.

Paris Hilton had a call in to Barbara Walters recently where she said, "I used to act dumb. ... That act is no longer cute." She also asked that the media focus on more important things than her jail time. She also said, "Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance." We don't know yet if she'll follow through on this. But one thing is for sure, her jail time is motivating her to think in new ways. I think she will come out a far better person than when she went in.
