I'm done with the Vogue pole

I'm seriously thinking about never using the pole at the Vogue again. As my tricks get better and more challenging, they also require more control and balance. None of which I can achieve on a moving object, which only makes it more frustrating and dangerous to use.

Last night I tried to do one of my favorite tricks. A simple helicopter with my legs over my head into a snake dive and then sliding down the pole hands free until my hands reach the floor into a hand stand. But as I was hanging in the helicopter position, pulling my legs together around the pole to go into the snake move somehow created momentum that forced the pole into a rapid spin. Spinning upside down and out of control, there was nothing I could do but hang on and wait. And it was impossible to let go of the spinning pole (without being thrown off) long enough to slide down into a hand stand. Basically the entire move was ruined.

The other thing is that since I'm an instructor, people expect me to be good on the pole. So when I get onto one that moves and have to cling to the damn thing for dear life, it doesn't exactly make me look like a competent pole dancer. No one there knows I can perform gracefully and beautifully on a stationary pole. They just see me performing less than graceful moves because I'm trying to anticipate the movement of the out of control pole and compensate for it. I'm kind of tired of having the Vogue pole kick my ass. I think I'm done with it.
