To buy or not to buy...

I wasn't planning on buying a DVD drive for my netbook. But I need one to install software on it (like the MS Office I just ordered). And I'll be able to watch movies on it when I travel. Cheapest one is $40:

Should I get it?

Absolutely not!

If you are going to get an external DVD drive, get one that -) Burns DVD's (-

Then you can also backup your data.

Of course, you can backup your data using a USB flash drive, or an SD card, but if you are going to spend money, you might as well make the most effective use of it...
If I want to burn a DVD I can use my laptop for that. The netbook is just for traveling and maybe accepting credit cards in the studio or playing music in the bedroom. It's not may main computer.
For movies on the go, use Handbrake to convert them to a file, then put them on a USB thumb drive. No moving parts means longer battery life.
